The Legislation Index rough indexes the primary legislation governing Powers of Attorney in Six (6) Greater States.
By bringing together the sections in the legislation of each of the Six (6) Greater States that deal with similar subject matter, it is easier to understand how things work in each of the Six (6) Greater States.
For example:-
- where one state has not legislated in respect to an issue, the legislation of another state may be a good starting point towards understanding how the issue might be approached
- where different states have taken different approaches, comparing their approaches affords insight
The Legislation Index is a starting point when identifying comparable provisions, relevant issues and similar, accepting that:-
- it has not been possible to completely cross-reference the legislation
- the Legislation Index can only ever be a starting point, from which a person can undertake their own further research
- the Legislation Index is incomplete and may contain errors
Posting of recommended edits to the Legislation Index through the Comments feature of this Wiki is welcome.
¶ Abbreviations, Omissions & Content
In the Legislation Index, the acronym "NEP" stands for “no equivalent provision”.
A blank space indicates that an exhaustive review to ascertain if the legislation contains a relevant provision is yet to take place.
